# The Potomac Ledger > Nonpartisan, machine-readable dataset (and weekly newsletter) of publicly disclosed stock trades by U.S. members of Congress and senior executive-branch officials — STOCK Act periodic transaction reports + OGE Form 278-T — enriched with party/committee/agency, sector, heuristic conflict flags, and market-adjusted returns. Built to be queried by AI agents. AI agents and MCP clients should use the API directly rather than scraping the site. Caveats to always carry: disclosed date is not the trade date (filings lag 30–45 days); dollar figures are disclosed ranges, not exact amounts; conflict flags are heuristic potential overlaps, not accusations; returns are a reproducible timing proxy, not realized profit; nothing here is investment advice. ## API (for agents) - [MCP endpoint](https://potomacledger.com/mcp): Model Context Protocol over Streamable HTTP. Free = last 90 days, no key. Pro key = full archive (2020–present), generous rate limits. Six read-only tools (search_trades, get_person_trades, get_ticker_activity, list_recent_trades, list_conflicts, aggregates), plus MCP resources and prompts. - [Agent guide](https://potomacledger.com/AGENTS.md): how to connect and represent the data. ## Data - [Dataset manifest](https://potomacledger.com/dataset-manifest.json): version, content hash, coverage, and the incremental-sync recipe (full archive via the Pro MCP API). - [Data dictionary](https://potomacledger.com/data-dictionary.json): every field + per-field/per-year completeness. - [Pricing](https://potomacledger.com/pricing.md) - [Data license](https://potomacledger.com/data-license/) ## Human pages - [Home + subscribe](https://potomacledger.com/) — free weekly newsletter (Congress edition Mondays, Executive edition Tuesdays). - [Use in AI](https://potomacledger.com/ai/) - [Membership — The Full Ledger](https://potomacledger.com/members/) ($8/mo or $80/yr charter rate, locked in for life for the first 100 members) - [Guide to government trading disclosures](https://potomacledger.com/guide/) - [Issue archive](https://potomacledger.com/issues/) ## Sources - U.S. House Clerk financial disclosures (disclosures-clerk.house.gov) - U.S. Senate Electronic Financial Disclosure (efdsearch.senate.gov) - U.S. Office of Government Ethics — OGE Form 278-T periodic transaction reports
