The Potomac Ledger

Legal

Privacy Policy

Effective May 25, 2026

The Potomac Ledger respects your privacy. We collect as little as possible, use it only to send you the newsletter you asked for, and never sell it. This policy explains the details.

01

Who We Are

The Potomac Ledger ("we," "us," or "the Newsletter") is a publication of Seven Roots, available at potomacledger.com. We publish a free weekly newsletter tracking the publicly disclosed stock trades of U.S. members of Congress and senior executive-branch officials. This policy explains how we handle your information.

02

Information We Collect

We collect your email address when you subscribe through our website. That is the only information we require to send you the newsletter. If you become a paying member or supporter, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details directly; on our side we receive and store only limited billing metadata — a Stripe customer identifier, your subscription status, and your billing period — which we use to know who should receive the members' edition. We do not operate user accounts or store passwords.

03

How We Use Your Information

We use your email address to send you the free weekly editions, the members' edition (if you are a member), occasional service messages such as a welcome email, and one-click unsubscribe handling. We use billing metadata solely to manage membership access and process payments. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build profiles about you.

04

Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate: Brevo (Sendinblue) for sending email and managing the subscriber list; Netlify for website hosting and capturing signups from our website form; and Stripe, Inc. for payment processing and subscription billing. Each maintains its own privacy practices. The trade data we report on comes from public government disclosures and market-data sources; that content is public record and does not include your personal information.

05

Payment Information

When you become a member or make a voluntary contribution, your payment card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe, Inc. The Potomac Ledger does not see, receive, or store your full card number, security code, or expiration date. Stripe is certified as PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant, the highest level available in the payments industry. See Stripe's Privacy Policy at https://stripe.com/privacy. Stripe may send you transactional emails (receipts, payment confirmations) on our behalf; these are operational, not marketing.

06

Email & Unsubscribe

Every edition includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. When you unsubscribe, you are removed from future sends and your address is suppressed so it is not re-added by a later sync. You may also reply to any issue to ask us to remove you.

07

Cookies & Tracking

Our website is a set of static pages. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party advertising cookies. Our hosting and email providers may set limited functional cookies or use tracking pixels in emails to measure deliverability and opens; this is standard email-platform behavior and is not used to build advertising profiles.

08

Data Retention

We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep a suppression record so we do not email you again. Payment and subscription records — limited to the billing metadata described above — are retained for up to seven (7) years to comply with U.S. tax and financial recordkeeping requirements. Your full payment card details are held by Stripe, not by us.

09

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Your data is shared only with the service providers listed above, and only as needed to operate the newsletter. We will not disclose your information to other parties unless required by law.

10

Your Choices

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any issue. You may also request a copy or deletion of the personal information we hold about you by emailing the address below; we will honor the request within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any recordkeeping obligations.

11

Children's Privacy

The Potomac Ledger is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

12

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the newsletter after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
