The Potomac Ledger

Legal

Terms of Service

Effective May 25, 2026

These terms govern your use of The Potomac Ledger. Please read the two disclaimers below carefully — they matter most.

Not investment advice. The Potomac Ledger is journalism and information, not financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Nothing we publish is a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Do your own research and consult a licensed professional before making any financial decision.

No accusation of wrongdoing. We report trades that officials have publicly disclosed. When we flag a "potential conflict," it is a heuristic overlap between an official's role and a company's sector — not a finding of illegality, insider trading, or ethical violation. We are strictly nonpartisan and imply no wrongdoing by any person named.

01

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using The Potomac Ledger ("the Newsletter"), operated by Seven Roots Consulting, LLC ("Seven Roots"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Newsletter. Your continued use constitutes acceptance of any updates to these terms.

02

What The Potomac Ledger Is

The Potomac Ledger is a weekly email newsletter that tracks the publicly disclosed stock trades of U.S. members of Congress (Monday edition) and senior executive-branch officials (Tuesday edition), drawn from official financial disclosures filed under the STOCK Act and related rules. The weekly newsletter is free. We also offer an optional paid membership ("The Full Ledger") with the complete trade data, and a voluntary support option.

03

Not Investment or Financial Advice

The content is provided for general informational and journalistic purposes only. It is not investment, financial, legal, accounting, or tax advice, and must not be relied upon as such. We are not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, or fiduciary. Any action you take based on the Newsletter is your sole responsibility.

04

Accuracy & Source of Data

Our reporting is built from third-party and public-record sources, including the U.S. House Clerk, the U.S. Senate, and the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, plus market-data providers. The disclosure date is not the trade date (filings lag 30 to 45 days), and dollar figures are disclosed ranges, not exact amounts. We strive for accuracy but make no warranty that the information is complete, current, or error-free. The Newsletter is provided "as is."

05

No Accusation of Wrongdoing; Nonpartisanship

Conflict-of-interest flags are heuristic "potential overlaps" between an official's committee or agency and a traded company's sector. They are not assertions that any law or rule was broken, and they are not partisan commentary. The Potomac Ledger does not endorse or oppose any official, party, or trade.

06

Membership, Support & Billing

The weekly newsletter is free. Optional offerings are billed in U.S. dollars through Stripe: The Full Ledger membership at $10/month or $100/year; a founding rate of $8/month or $80/year, locked in for as long as the membership remains active, available for a limited time to early members; and voluntary support at $5/month or $50/year with no additional benefits. Paid plans renew automatically each period until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize Seven Roots, via Stripe, to charge your payment method at the start of each period.

07

Payment Processing

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By paying, you agree to Stripe's terms at https://stripe.com/legal and privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy. We do not store your full card details; we receive only a tokenized customer reference and subscription status. You are responsible for keeping your payment method current.

08

Cancellation & Refunds

You may cancel a membership or recurring contribution at any time through the management link in your Stripe receipt or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then. Fees already paid are non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial periods. We may issue discretionary refunds for duplicate charges or billing errors.

09

Price Changes

We may change pricing at any time. Any change to the price of your existing plan will take effect no sooner than thirty (30) days after we notify you by email. Founding members keep their founding rate for as long as their membership remains continuously active. You may cancel before a change takes effect.

10

Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the Newsletter, including by automated scraping of our website beyond normal reading, reselling or publicly redistributing the members' data files or editions without written permission, or interfering with our infrastructure. Members' downloads are licensed for your personal use. (The underlying disclosure data is public record and freely available from the government sources we cite.)

11

Intellectual Property

The Potomac Ledger name, masthead, design, and editorial writing are the property of Seven Roots. The underlying government disclosure data is public record. You may quote and link to our issues with attribution; you may not republish whole issues or member data files as your own.

12

Limitation of Liability

The Newsletter is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Seven Roots shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Newsletter — including, without limitation, any financial or investment decisions.

13

Third-Party Links

Our issues link to official filing documents and other third-party sites for verification. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of external sites.

14

Termination

We may suspend or end your access at any time, with or without cause. You may stop using the Newsletter at any time by unsubscribing. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of prepaid fees.

15

Modifications to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

16

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Wisconsin.
